Sony’s Twitter Account Staffer Gets Suckered

Sony has stirred up a hornet’s nest by “threatening to sue anybody posting or ‘distributing’ the first full-fledged jailbreak code for the 4-year-old PlayStation 3 gaming console” and by demanding that both Google and Twitter hand over a bunch of user data.

Yesterday, Travis La Marr (@exiva), a “mac geek. linux geek. foursquare super user. geek. former KIN User”, tricked Sony “employee” @TheKevinButler into propagating the jailbreak code. He did it like this:

Step 1: The Bait.

The Tweet

Step Two: Three hours (or so) later, the proof of a ReTweet.

The ReTweet (Subsequently Deleted, Of Course)

Step Three: The Confirmation.

Clarification of "Battleship"

If ever there was a case for having a corporate Twitter account managed by one dedicated person who understands the medium, this is it.
